If you've been looking at wedding venues for more than about five minutes, you've probably discovered that they can start to blur together.
Located in the countryside northeast of Alexandria, Minnesota, Adler Ranch is a private, independently owned wedding venue filled with original vintage signs, restored gas and oil memorabilia, unexpected gathering spaces, gardens, mature trees and decades of collected pieces that weren't ordered from a wedding catalog.
But the things couples tend to appreciate most aren't always the things that show up first in photographs.
It's the privacy. The spaces already available to you. The tables and chairs you don't have to rent. The ceremony setup you don't have to coordinate. The decor collection you can borrow. The cleanup you don't have to assign to Mom at 11:30 at night.

A Minnesota Wedding Venue That Doesn't Look Like Everyone Else's
Adler Ranch sits on approximately 60 private acres near Alexandria, Minnesota, surrounded by countryside rather than subdivisions, hotels or neighboring events.
The property has been shaped over decades by owners Marlys and Kurt Steidl, long before anyone decided it should become a wedding venue.
Much of the vintage collection you see throughout the property is original. Signs, gas pumps, vehicles and pieces of Americana have been collected and restored over more than 35 years.
That matters because Adler Ranch wasn't built to look vintage.
It simply is.
Today those pieces share the property with gardens, mature trees, outdoor ceremony spaces, a wildflower and pollinator field, indoor reception space and some wonderfully odd places to have a cocktail or take a photograph.
Your wedding doesn't need a theme to fit here, either. We've hosted elegant weddings, casual weddings, boho weddings, traditional weddings, western weddings, vintage-inspired weddings and couples who couldn't have cared less what Pinterest decided to call their style.

One of the biggest differences between Adler Ranch and a traditional event hall is that your guests aren't confined to one room for the entire evening.
There are places to gather, wander, take photographs, have a drink, sit outside and discover something they didn't notice an hour earlier.
And yes, people really do wander around looking at the signs.

The Banquet Hall
The Banquet Hall at Adler Ranch
The Adler Ranch Banquet Hall provides the comfortable indoor home base for your reception.
Its light interior works with nearly any wedding color palette or decorating style, while large doors connect the reception to the surrounding outdoor spaces.
Tables and chairs are included and set for your reception.
One of the room's signature features is our handcrafted 32-foot solid oak head table, giving the wedding party a pretty spectacular place to sit without requiring you to rent specialty furniture.
The building also gives Minnesota couples something every outdoor wedding needs:
A real weather plan.
Because while we'd love to promise 72 degrees, a light breeze and one perfectly positioned cloud for every Saturday from May through October, Minnesota has declined to sign that contract.

Most Adler Ranch couples choose to hold their wedding ceremony outdoors on the main property.
The ceremony area can be arranged and personalized for your wedding while still taking advantage of the natural surroundings and the character of the venue.
And here's an important little detail:
We set up and take down the ceremony chairs.
You don't need to recruit cousins in dress clothes to haul chairs across the lawn.
You are welcome to personalize the ceremony with your own arbor, backdrop, florals or decor, and our Something Borrowed collection may give you a head start.
What happens if it rains?
Outdoor weddings always need a backup plan.
If weather makes an outdoor ceremony impractical, the Banquet Hall provides an indoor option so your wedding can continue without scrambling to find another location.
That's one reason we believe a Minnesota outdoor wedding should include more than a pretty patch of grass.
Getting Ready at Adler Ranch

Adler Ranch has two wedding-party preparation spaces: the Cabin and the Gas Station.
And yes, the Gas Station really is a gas station.
These spaces are available for the wedding party and mothers to get dressed, gather, finish preparations and take photographs before the ceremony.
The Cabin has a charming vintage kitchen and comfortable spaces for final preparations, while the Gas Station offers an entirely different backdrop with authentic pumps and vintage details.
They are particularly wonderful for photographs.
One important thing to know when planning your morning: our preparation spaces are designed for wedding-day dressing, finishing touches and photos rather than functioning as full-service salons.
For larger wedding parties or very early hair and makeup schedules, many couples find it more comfortable to have professional hair and makeup completed offsite and use the Adler Ranch spaces for getting dressed and those final wedding-day moments.
You May Be Surprised How Much You Don't Have to Rent
The Something Borrowed Collection
A rotating collection of wedding decor and useful pieces available to Adler Ranch couples.
This isn't the glamorous part of wedding planning.
It may, however, be one of the parts your budget appreciates most.
Many wedding venues begin with a building and then hand you a list of everything you'll need to bring in.
At Adler Ranch, a considerable amount of the wedding-day infrastructure is already included.
Your Adler Ranch venue rental includes things such as:
Reception tables and chairs
Set up for your reception.
Ceremony chairs
Set up and removed by us.
Our 32-foot handcrafted oak head table
Wedding preparation spaces
Luxury restroom facilities
Mosquito treatment
End-of-night venue cleanup
And a lot of little things that aren't terribly exciting until you realize you don't have to find, rent, haul, set up or clean them.
Meet the Something Borrowed Collection
Over the years, we've accumulated quite a collection.
Rather than letting all of it gather dust between weddings, Adler Ranch couples are welcome to use available pieces from our Something Borrowed Collection.
Depending on the season and current inventory, you'll find things such as lanterns, vases, jars, mirrors, votives, galvanized pieces, whiskey barrels, vintage china, German beer tables, live plants, display pieces and our locked mailbox card box.
Using the collection is completely optional.
Bring your own decor. Use ours. Mix the two.
We are not emotionally attached to your centerpiece decisions.
The Grain Bin Bar
Yes. It's a bar inside a 1950s grain bin.
This one usually gets people's attention.
Our Grain Bin Bar began life as an actual 1950s grain bin.
Today it's one of the most recognizable gathering spaces at Adler Ranch and a favorite place for guests to grab a drink, visit and experience one more part of the property that doesn't feel like a typical wedding venue.
Bar service at Adler Ranch is professionally provided through The Depot Smokehouse & Tavern, allowing you to enjoy the fun part without turning Uncle Steve into an amateur bartender.
And Then There Are the Other Bars...
The Conoco Bar
Built around an original vintage Conoco sign, with outdoor seating near the Cabin and Gas Station.
Apparently one unusual bar wasn't enough.
Throughout the property you'll find additional vintage-inspired gathering and serving spaces, including Conoco Corner, the Luggage Cart Bar and the Silo Bar.
Not every space is used exactly the same way at every wedding.
That's part of the fun. Wedding guests love exploring the property!

There is vintage decor.
And then there is a collection that took more than three decades to build.
Adler Ranch is home to an extensive private collection of original vintage neon, gas and oil signs and other Americana dating primarily from the 1930s through the 1970s.
Many pieces have been restored and paired with period-correct poles and fixtures.
They're not wedding props purchased to fill empty corners.
They're part of the ranch.
During the day, they create some pretty unusual wedding photo locations.
After dark?
That's when things get interesting.

One reason photographers enjoy Adler Ranch is variety.
Within the property you'll find rustic textures, open countryside, mature trees, vintage buildings, original neon, old vehicles, gardens and seasonal natural areas.
Our wildflower and pollinator field creates another completely different backdrop during the part of the season when Mother Nature decides to cooperate.
That means you don't have to spend an hour of your wedding day driving your wedding party around looking for photo locations.

Adler Ranch gives guests room to experience the property rather than moving from ceremony chair to dinner chair to dance floor and calling it a night.
The S'more Bar
Some weddings need champagne towers.
Some need marshmallows.
Our S'more Bar turns an old Studebaker truck into one of the more memorable late-evening gathering spots on the property.
It's available as an optional addition for couples who want to give guests another reason to head outside, hang around the fire and stay awhile.
Chocolate on formalwear remains the responsibility of the person holding the chocolate.

We offer several wedding packages because not every couple needs the same wedding day.
Some want the longest possible Saturday celebration.
Some want a smaller guest list and a shorter rental period.
Some would happily get married on a Thursday.
And some want 20 people, a beautiful ceremony, good food and absolutely no desire to entertain 175 relatives.

When is Adler Ranch open?
Adler Ranch is a seasonal Minnesota wedding venue, hosting weddings and events from May through October.
Where is Adler Ranch?
Adler Ranch is located in west-central Minnesota near Alexandria, approximately two hours from Minneapolis–St. Paul and Fargo-Moorhead and about an hour from St. Cloud.
Our half-mile driveway takes you away from traffic, businesses and neighboring events and into the private venue property.
Close enough to get here. Far enough away to feel like you went somewhere.
Is Adler Ranch accessible?
Adler Ranch is a one-level venue without stairs required for normal guest access and includes an accessible deck and luxury restroom facilities. If someone in your wedding party or guest list has specific accessibility concerns, just ask us when you inquire or tour.
